Egedeniz Textile is Now Renewable Energy Certified

Egedeniz Textile is happy to announce that we have achieved REC certification for our electricity consumption, amounting to 110.000000 MWh of clean, renewable energy.  REC being one of our ESG committee target, we are happy to take positive steps especially when it comes to textile industry.

What Does REC Certification Mean?

A Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) is a tradable commodity representing the environmental attributes of renewable electricity generation. By RECs, companies like Egedeniz Textile support the development of renewable energy projects. In essence, we are certifying that the electricity we consumed was generated from clean sources like wind, solar, hydro, or biomass.

Why It is Important?

Keeping our planet safe for ourselves and the next generations needs the collective actions.. By opting for renewable energy, Egedeniz Textile is contributing to a cleaner planet and reducing our carbon footprint. This decision aligns with our goals as Egedeniz Group ESG Commitee goals and demonstrates our motivation to preserving the environment for future generations.

The Importance of Renewable Energy in the Textile Industry

The textile industry is a significant energy consumer, with a substantial environmental footprint. The production process, from raw material cultivation to dyeing, finishing, and transportation, demands vast amounts of energy, often derived from fossil fuels. This heavy reliance on non-renewable resources contributes to greenhouse gas emissions and climate change.

Transitioning to renewable energy sources is crucial for the textile industry to reduce its carbon emissions and mitigate its environmental impact. By harnessing clean energy from the sun, wind, or water, textile manufacturers can significantly decrease their dependence on fossil fuels. Moreover, adopting renewable energy aligns with the growing consumer demand for sustainable and ethically produced products.

Investing in renewable energy not only benefits the environment but also offers economic advantages. By reducing energy costs and hedging against fluctuating fossil fuel prices, textile companies can improve their profitability and competitiveness. Additionally, it enhances their brand reputation and attracts environmentally conscious consumers.

Egedeniz Textile’s Steps to Sustainability

Achieving REC certification is just one step in our ESG milestones. We believe in operating responsibly and ethically, and we are continuously exploring ways to minimize our environmental impact. We try to go beyond energy consumption by focusing on reducing waste, optimizing water usage and promoting practices that is kind to our environment.

The importance of transparency and accountability in Textile Industry is indisputable. Going further with our ESG Commitee projects; we will be regularly share updates on our progress and initiatives.

We invite our customers, partners, and stakeholders to take action upon our responsibilities.
Together we can work on keeping our planet safe for ourselves and the future generations.
