At Egedeniz, our journey has always been rooted in the belief that textiles should give back more than they take. Back in 2022, before “regenerative” became a buzzword in sustainable fashion, Egedeniz Textile was already in the fields. We were the first in the Turkish textile industry to formally commit to regenerative organic cotton — joining an officially registered project in the Aegean Region of İzmir, in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry’s International Agricultural Research and Training Center (UTAEM) and the Ecological Agriculture Organization (ETO). That project marked the official initiation of regenerative organic cotton cultivation in the Aegean, and we were proud to be part of it from day one.
Since then, our work in the fields has only deepened: no-till farming, crop rotation, cover crops, restricted water use, organic certified inputs, and continuous soil carbon monitoring — season after season.
Now: Joining the ROA Community
We are thrilled to announce that we have officially joined the Regenerative Organic Alliance (ROA) community — making Egedeniz one of the first Turkish textile companies to align with this global framework.
To be clear: we are not yet Regenerative Organic Certified® (ROC). The certification process is a rigorous, multi-year journey — and we are on that path with full transparency and commitment. ROA membership means we are actively working within the highest standard for agriculture in the world, learning, implementing, and building toward full certification.
The ROC framework focuses on three interconnected pillars:
- Soil Health — Restoring carbon and building organic matter in the ground
- Animal Welfare — Ensuring high-bar ethical treatment across supply chains
- Social Fairness — Protecting the livelihoods of farmers and workers who make this industry possible
In sustainability, timing is not just a detail — it is a statement of values. When you start before it’s required, before it’s trendy, and before it’s easy, you send a message: that you believe in this not because the market demands it, but because the land deserves it.
Egedeniz has been that kind of company since 1993, when we became Turkey’s first GOTS-certified textile producer. The regenerative chapter is the natural continuation of that legacy.
We look forward to sharing field updates, soil health data, and seasonal stories as we integrate these practices deeper into our supply chain. 🌱
